Board Members

Deborah Jill ChitesterDeborah Jill Chitester

Deborah Jill Chitester received her Masters of Science in Speech-Language Pathology from Adelphi University in New York and was granted her Certificate of Clinical Competence (C.C.C) by the American Speech and Hearing Association (ASHA).  She has extensive experience working with all age levels and with diverse populations, having received special certification by the State of New York as a Bilingual (English/Spanish) Speech-Language Pathologist.  Also, Deborah has worked with all age levels and all disabilities.  She began her practice in New York, where she worked with both private patients as well as with the major school systems and corporations.

She is the founder of Multi-language Kids, a new non-profit 501c3 whose mission is to provide educational programming appropriate for culturally linguistically diverse children.  It will also house a parent literacy program that will afford diverse parents with the skills they need to support their children’s literacy both in the home language and in English.  Multi-language Kids will also provide technical assistance to schools in this area as well as proliferate appropriate educational programming for diverse learners and specialized family literacy programs for their families.

In 2007 her first resource guide called Unlocking the Enigma of the Second Language Learner: An Educator and Parental Resource Guide was released.  This was followed by a second release entitled Language development of the Young Second Language Learner of English.  A third book entitled Everything You Wanted to Know about Bilingual Educational Evaluations and did not ask…or did not get the answer to... a book containing valuable information about conducting bilingual speech and language and educational evaluations has recently been released.  She has also written a HOW TO resource guide that will support both parents and educators in their quest to provide and seek appropriate educational services for second language learners.

 

Beth L. MullerBeth L. Muller

Beth L. Muller is a speech-language pathologist who received Master and 6th year degrees as well as certification in Administration and Supervision from Southern CT State University.  She holds the Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association and has received an Award for Continuing Education from that organization.  She is a member of the Special Interest Divisions for Communication Disorders and Sciences in Culturally and Linguistically Diverse Populations, Language Learning and Education, and School-Based Issues.

Certified by the CT State Department of Education and licensed by the CT Department of Health, Beth was a practicing speech-language pathologist in the Bethel Public Schools, for many years serving as Coordinator.  She has a long-term interest in assessment and intervention as it pertains to students with a second language background and has pursued multiple opportunities for continuing education in that area.
